Happy 1st of June! Summer is merely weeks away, so you may be wondering how you and your S.O. (or even your first date) can fully embrace the beauty of summer without breaking the bank. Start reading below to get a few ideas on how you can have some summer fun without spending too much money.
1. Picnic in the park

We know-- you have probably heard of or done a picnic before. However, there is a reason it's so popular: it's super simple! It's easy to create a picnic because all you need is a grassy spot, a blanket, and some food! Enjoy healthy recipes like this one and slice a giant watermelon to eat while enjoying each other's company in the sun (you can also throw in some people watching while you're at it).
2. Chopped : Home Edition

If you haven't seen the tv show Chopped, just know that its a stressful cooking competition centered around a challenging and pre-chosen ingredient that professional chefs have to incorporate into delicious dishes. However, in Chopped: Home Edition, you and your S.O. can simply agree on a fresh summer ingredient to use and then challenge each other to an easy cook off. You don't even need to be a good cook for this date (although it's even funnier when neither person knows what they are doing). Maybe have a simple pasta salad nearby in case neither dish goes well!
3. Play some outdoor scopa!

Yes, you can play this fun game together indoors, but imagine gaming under the twinkling lights of your porch with some Italian soda and homemade pizza! Scopa is a fun and unique game that is fairly simple and played with 2 people (learn more about Scopa here) . A deck of cards can be found on Amazon for only $9.99, perfect for a summer full of playful competition!
4. Geocaching

Don't scroll away and hear me out! Geocaching (or finding people's hidden items) was a huge deal back around 2012, but it honestly should be brought back to life this summer. It allows you and your date to share some nostalgia together, can help you both explore your city, and can even let you get some exercise. It's also super simple! Download the Geocaching app on your phone, create an account, find a nearby geocache, and sign the logbook. Badaboom, you have an easy and memorable date experience (that might just cost some gas money).
5. Thrift an outfit for each other

How well do you know your date? Show off what you know about their style and impress Gen Z by going to your local thrift store and picking out an outfit for each other! Really try and push the envelope and put a lot of effort into this so you can actually purchase and wear these items. Share a soda at the nearest diner to really play up a movie-like date aesthetic!
